Al-Nsour opens conference (Towards a global strategy to combat extremism)

Amman – Petra – Under the auspices of Prime Minister Dr. Abdullah Ensour, a conference titled “Towards a Comprehensive Strategy to Combat Extremism… Opportunities and Challenges for National Accord” will be inaugurated today at the Landmark Hotel in Amman, which will be organized by the Jerusalem Center for Political Studies.
The director of the Jerusalem Center for Political Studies, Oraib Al-Rantawi, said that this conference aims to work towards building a national consensus on the concept of extremism, its forms and manifestations, and ways to address and combat it.
He added that this national consensus is a priority as a matter of first national priority, noting that extremism leading to terrorism is a threat to Jordan’s security and stability.
The sessions of the three-day conference, attended by a large number of official, party and academic personalities and experts, will discuss a number of axes related to the fight against terrorism, including political reform and democratization as a tool to fight the party , renewing religious discourse, security policies, communal violence, the rule of law and the role of Islamic currents movements in the fight against extremism.
