A major legal dispute between two prominent Egyptian football clubs, Al-Nojoom and Ismaily SC, is sending shockwaves through the Egyptian Premier League and highlighting the complexities of international sports law. the conflict centers around a long-standing transfer dispute involving player ibrahim Hassan, and its ramifications are far-reaching.
Last week, the Egyptian Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee announced its long-awaited decision regarding the case. The committee ruled in favor of Al-Nojoom,suspending Ismaily SC’s player registration until the International Sports Court (CAS) ruling from February 21,2020,is fully implemented. This ruling, which favored Al-Nojoom, has yet to be acted upon by Ismaily SC.
Ismaily SC, facing the consequences of the ruling, has reportedly requested the suspension be lifted to allow them to make player transfers during the january transfer window. However, Al-Nojoom has issued a strong statement rejecting this request.
in a strongly worded statement, Al-Nojoom declared: “It is in light of the legal dispute between the Al-Nojoom Club and the Ismaily Club regarding the implementation of the ruling of the International Sports Court (CAS) in favor of the Al-Nojoom club, issued on February 21, 2020. With reference to the decision of the Disciplinary Committee of the Egyptian Football Association, which obligates the Ismaily Club to implement this ruling, and the Egyptian Football Association’s adoption of this decision on December 28, 2025. despite the complete clarity of the vision regarding this binding decision, it is indeed not subject to any appeal and does not suspend implementation in any way. However,we have followed through the media and social networking sites that some officials of the Ismaily Club claim that the Egyptian Football Association has opened the registration for the Ismaily Club in the current winter registration period,January 2025,in violation of the truth, regulations and laws, and causing confusion among football fans with this claim that is contrary to the truth. therefore, we call on the Ismaily Club to take natural and proper measures to end the conflict without resorting to such illegal methods. We also call on officials of the Egyptian Football Association to address such controversial allegations and confirm what was stated in the decision issued on December 28, 2025, so that there is no other chance. It calls for harming the interests of the Stars Club, which suffered and is still suffering from the effects of the non-implementation of the ruling and the clear denial of justice throughout the previous period towards the Stars Club.”
Nasr Abu Al-Hassan, the head of Ismaily SC, acknowledged the club’s difficult situation in recent television interviews, suggesting that the sanctions could have been addressed earlier. Despite the legal challenges, Ismaily SC recently advanced to the Egypt Cup final after defeating Tanta.
This ongoing dispute underscores the importance of upholding fair play and the rule of law in international sports. The situation mirrors similar controversies seen in other leagues worldwide, highlighting the need for clear and consistent enforcement of regulations to maintain the integrity of the game.

A Transfer Dispute with Lasting Consequences
John Smith,Senior Editor,world-today-news.com: Welcome,Dr. Nadia Khalil. You’re a leading expert on sports law in the Middle East. Can you shed some light on this complex dispute between Al-Nojoom and Ismaily SC?
Dr. nadia Khalil: Thanks for having me, John. This case is indeed quite complicated and has been dragging on for several years. Essentially, it boils down to a disagreement over the transfer of player Ibrahim Hassan. Al-Nojoom claims ismaily SC violated FIFA regulations during the transfer, and an International Sports Court (CAS) ruling from 2020 sided with Al-Nojoom.
The Egyptian Football Association’s Ruling
John Smith: So, the CAS has already ruled in favor of Al-Nojoom. Where does that leave Ismaily SC?
Dr.Nadia Khalil: That’s right. The CAS ruling mandated specific sanctions against Ismaily SC, including a suspension on registering new players. The Egyptian Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee recently reaffirmed this suspension, upholding the CAS ruling. Ismaily SC is now appealing for the suspension to be lifted so they can participate in the January transfer window.
The Fallout for Both Clubs
John Smith: It sounds like a tough situation for both clubs. How is this impacting them on and off the field?
Dr. Nadia Khalil: Absolutely. Al-Nojoom feels they have been wronged and are entitled to see the CAS ruling fully enforced. They argue the delay is unfair and disrupts the competitive balance of the league. Ismaily SC, on the other hand, claims the sanctions are too harsh and are crippling their ability to compete. This situation has sparked a lot of debate among fans and within the Egyptian football community.
A Call for Transparency and Fairness
John Smith: do you see a resolution on the horizon,Dr. Khalil?
Dr. Nadia Khalil: It’s hard to say without a doubt. Hopefully, both clubs can find a compromise that respects the CAS ruling while allowing Ismaily SC some chance to strengthen its squad. Ultimately, this case highlights the need for clear and consistent enforcement of international sports regulations to ensure a level playing field and maintain the integrity of the game.
John Smith: Thank you for bringing your expertise to this issue, dr. Khalil.
