Al-Nassr: Cristano Ronaldo shines with a brace

He can still do it. Even at the age of 38, Cristiano Ronaldo is scoring goals like he’s on an assembly line. With his two goals against Al-Okhdood, the Portuguese not only leads Al-Nassr to a 3-0 home win, but also writes football history once again.

With his two most recent goals, Ronaldo is now definitely the player with the most first division goals in history with 527 goals. Before the game he had scored 525 goals. According to several media reports, he surpasses the Hungarian legend Ferenc Puskás, who is also said to have scored 525 goals. Other media credit Puskás and Josef Bican (ex-Austria and ex-Czechoslovakia player) with 515 goals each, which means Ronaldo would have set the record last August.

In the game against Al-Okhdood, the five-time world footballer showed his great class twice within three minutes late in the game. Both times he coldly punished an unsuccessful save by opposing goalie Paulo Vitor. At 1-0 (77th minute) he caught the Brazilian in the near corner, at 2-0 (80th minute) he shone with a fantastic chip from around 25 meters (see video above).

In the table, Al-Nassr is one point behind leaders Al-Hilal with 34 points, although they have played one fewer game than Ronaldo’s club. The superstar moved from Manchester United to Saudi Arabia in January 2023. In 37 competitive games for Al-Nassr, he has scored 32 goals and also provided eleven assists. He also contributed 18 goals for Portugal’s national team in the 2023 calendar year alone.
