Jakarta, CNNIndonesia —
Coach Al Nasser Luis Castro delivered a barrage of criticism ahead of his Arab Champions League quarter-final against Moroccan side Raja Casablanca.
Al Nassr will fight Raja Casablanca at the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium, Sunday (6/8) evening.
This match was crucial for Luis Castro to get his first trophy with Al Nassr. The club nicknamed Al Aalami also needs the Arab Champions League trophy to mine their enthusiasm ahead of the 2023/2024 season.
Al Nassr will face fierce resistance in this match because Raja Casablanca is the defending champion of the Arab Champions League.
Even though it was inhabited by a number of great players who were European league stars at their time: Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcelo Brozovic, Talisca, to Sadio Mane, Luis Castro doesn’t want to be conceited.
Castro said that having a series of stars would not guarantee victory for Al Nassr. In the last three matches in the Arab Champions League, Al Nassr won only once and drew two.
“I will not promise the fans a win, because that is disrespectful to the opponent. I can promise that we will give everything,” Castro said as quoted by Portuguese media. Record.
“We know having a big name doesn’t guarantee victory. It will be [pertandingan] difficult,” Castro added.
Luis Castro’s comments were of course a satire for Al Nassr’s top players such as Ronaldo, Brozovic and also Mane.
The report stated that Cristiano Ronaldo could start again against Raja Casablanca, but for Sadio Mane, his debut with Al Nassr could start from the bench.
Meanwhile, Raja Casablanca coach Joseff Zinnbauer admitted that his team was ready to fight Ronaldo who rescued Al Nassr in the previous match.
“He scored a lot of goals in the last minutes, but we will be ready. I made the team taking into account Al Nassr’s last game,” said Zinnbauer.
