Al-Murtada: Sectarian conflict goes back to a bygone era | Politics

The Minister of Culture in the interim government, Judge Muhammad Wissam al-Murtada, stressed that “protecting the Christian presence in Lebanon is a duty entrusted to Muslims, and preserving diversity in this country is a guarantor for the continuation of the entity” .

Al-Murtada’s words came during his inauguration of a plastic art exhibition, “Artistic Mirrors” at the UNESCO Palace, in the presence of a crowd of concerned actors and their sacrifices.

He pointed out to “some rumors spreading that Muslims are colluding with Christians” and said, “This is sick and abnormal logic, and its owner serves Israel whether they know it or not, because the fragmentation and pitting the Lebanese against each other and intimidating them from each other are all goals that the Israeli enemy is working to achieve.

He said: “I am a Muslim and I undertake to be the guarantee for the Christian in the survival of his free and active existence and in preserving his faith and holiness. My faith calls me to this. My personal interest in the survival of the entity imposes it on me.”

He stressed that “the president of the republic who will be elected is for all Lebanese, and is the unifying reference with which everyone meets, so it must then be a gathering of the talents and qualities that qualify him to play this role, qualities and traits who reassure everyone, so that everyone rejoices with them, and with them everyone rejoices. For all Lebanese, standing in the line of state-building of institutions, dear to the soul, do not tickle the nerves at home and fear no intimidation from abroad.

Al-Murtada concluded: “Division with other titles, and the saying them and us, and the saying that they don’t look like us, and the saying of our regions and our society. List, the only returnees are the honest ones who work to build a homeland for all the children of this country, a homeland in which the Christian Muslim guards it and nourishes it with the closure of his eyes and the Christian Muslim guards it and rejoices in it as a brother and companion of the country. Lebanon will inevitably return and will be Like this.
