A sensational surprise awaited an English woman who wanted to make her daughter happy for Christmas by giving her a laptop that she had bought on Amazon, when she opened the box to find corn flakes inside instead of the electronic device.
Lizzie Pattison ordered the computer from e-commerce firm Amazon in October to give to her 10-year-old daughter for Christmas.
The woman kept the box hidden for about two months, until Wednesday, when she discovered that the package contained the “famous breakfast”. When she contacted Amazon, the company informed her that the 30-day return period had expired.
After several attempts, Amazon accepted the refund request and returned the money to Pattison, along with £40 gift vouchers.
The woman told the BBC: ‘My main concern is that there will be a number of children on Christmas morning who open what their parents think is a tablet or laptop, only to find otherwise, because parents don’t they opened the box.”
