The Ecuador national team drew with its Iraqi counterpart, goalless, in the match that brought together the two teams at the Spanish stadium “Siftas Metropolitano”, as part of Ecuador’s preparations to participate in the Qatar World Cup 2022 .
The referee awarded a penalty kick in the last minute of the match in favor of Ecuador, after the ball hit the hand of Hamza Adnan, the Iraqi player.
Gonzalo Plata rushed to the ball, but Iraqi goalkeeper Jalal Hassan shined and saved the ball in the 92nd minute.
The Ecuador national team is present at the Qatar 2022 World Cup in Group A, together with the teams: Qatar, Holland and Senegal.
The Ecuadorian national team’s first match in the World Cup is expected to be against its Qatari counterpart on Sunday 11-20-2022 at Al-Bayt Stadium as part of their first-round clashes.
The World Cup in Qatar will start from 20 November to 18 December.
