The court’s prosecutor said Spanish prosecutors have withdrawn all allegations of fraud and corruption against Brazilian footballer Neymar and other defendants in connection with his transfer from Brazilian Santos to Barcelona in 2013.
Prosecutors have called for a two-year prison sentence for Neymar and a fine of 10 million euros ($ 9.95 million) in the case brought by the Brazilian investment firm DIS, which owned 40% of Neymar’s rights during his time with Santos.
DIS claims they lost the right to transfer the player because the deal was underestimated.
“There is no criminal suspicion”, said Luis García Canton, the prosecutor, after all the defendants testified at the trial in Barcelona, and asked the judge to “acquit all the defendants”.
