Al-Kabbaj: Mental health is not a stigma .. We have 17 mobile units for homeless children – Egypt

Dr. Nevin Al-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, said that the “Homeless Children” project owns 17 mobile units, where 7 new institutions were allocated to receive children in a number of governorates of the Republic.

She added during her dialogue with the media, Lubna Asal, the presenter of the “Al-Hayat Al-Youm” program, through the “Al-Hayat” screen, that citizens got to know more about the service, which led to positive interaction with them and reporting on various cases.

And she continued: “There is more than one group in the street, where the ministry does not deal with them as one category, where the distinction is made between begging and the presence of children without shelter.”

And she added: “We are trying to establish a dialogue with them, and some of them ask for money because they earn some of it in their daily work, as we deal with adults who have children, and we ask them for official papers to prove that the children are their children, and the Ministry of Interior has shown its willingness to deal with us.”

The Minister of Social Solidarity pointed out that the Ministry is working within the field of mental health, stressing at the same time that it is not a stigma or something wrong with its owner: “We cooperate with the Ministry of Health in providing treatment to these groups, and we are working to increase awareness.”
