Despite starting the Saudi championship with a clear victory (3-0) over Al Raed, Nuno Espírito Santo’s Al Ittihad are not going through the best time at home. According to the Arab newspaper ‘Al-Sharq Al-Awsat’, the team that has Benzema as the main figure is going through a moment of internal crisis, due to the signing policy of the Saudi club in this transfer market.

It all started with interest in signing Mohammed Al-Owais, from Jorge Jesus’ Al Hilal, to replace Brazilian Marcelo Grohe. However, this intention clashes with the ideas of Nuno Espírito Santo who opposes this exchange.

The aforementioned diary even says that some of the foreign players in the squad are being ‘pushed’ to leave the Saudi emblem and this instability with regard to that issue means that the general atmosphere at the club is “dominated by tension”.

Hegazy even demanded full payment of the salary provided for in his contract to leave Al Ittihad, at a time when Marquinhos, from PSG, has been appointed to the center of the defense of the Arab club.

It should be noted that the Saudi League allows each team to have only eight foreign players and that, at the moment, Al Ittihad has… 10, with the Portuguese Jota being one of them. Ora Hegazi and Tarek Hamed are not signed by the Saudi emblem, Romarinho has already asked to leave, Grohe could leave the club this summer and the same could happen with Coronado and Abderrazak Hamdallah. This is a situation that Al Itthiad hopes to see resolved in the coming weeks, before the end of this transfer window in order to reinforce the team.
