Sources told Football Insider that Al-Ittihad is planning to make an astronomical offer for Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, worth 225 million pounds, before the Saudi Professional League window closes on Thursday.
The Saudi Federation had submitted an initial bid of 100 million pounds – rising to 150 million pounds – but it was rejected late last Thursday night, August 31.
And Liverpool insisted that Salah is not for sale and they have no intention of letting him go this week, according to what Football Insider reported in special coverage.
But Al-Ittihad has not finished his interest and believes that he has received some encouragement from the camp of Mohamed Salah, who wants to join him.
The federation is now preparing a new bid with a total value of £225m (about $280m), including add-ons, which would make it a world record transfer fee if accepted.
It is worth noting that Saudi Professional League clubs can make contracts until 10 pm GMT today, Thursday.
Currently, Liverpool is unable to bring a replacement for its Egyptian star, who has nearly two more years left on his contract, until January.
The Egyptian star remains tied to a contract at Anfield until June 2025, after extending it for 3 years last summer (2022).
Salah earns a wage of 350,000 pounds per week in Merseyside, and is the highest paid player in Liverpool.
