Private sources revealed to Al-Riyadiya that Portuguese Nuno Santo, coach of the first Al-Ittihad Football team, is preparing Portuguese Jota Filipe and Egyptian Ahmed Hegazy to use their services in the Club World Cup, which Saudi Arabia will host next December.
FIFA laws allow foreign players to participate if they are registered in the local game federation system (TMS).
The same sources explained that the technical, administrative and medical bodies are monitoring Hegazy’s rehabilitation program, which is close to entering the final stage, while Jota is training daily with the team, after he was excluded from the list of eight foreign players in the Saudi Roshen League.
According to the AFC regulations in Article 27 of the AFC Champions League regulations, the player is allowed to be registered in the Champions League once the club possesses the player’s international transfer certificate, which means the possibility of benefiting from Jota’s services according to the “5+1” tournament system.
Hegazy was injured late last May, and was treated by British surgeon Andy Williams last June, and is still undergoing a rehabilitation program.
