Al-Ittihad Club’s Draw Against Navbakhor in the AFC Champions League Round of 16: 10 Years Without an Away Victory

The Saudi Al-Ittihad team returned with a goalless draw against Uzbekistan after its match against Navbakhor, which brought them together today, Thursday, at the Central Stadium, in the first leg of the round of 16 of the AFC Champions League for the current season 2023-2024.

The Saudi Al-Riyadiya newspaper revealed that Al-Ittihad Club has not won the AFC Champions League qualifying rounds outside its stadium for 10 years.

She explained that the last victory achieved by Al-Ittihad outside its stadium in the knockout rounds came at the expense of Al-Shabab Saudi Arabia in Riyadh, with a score of 3-1 on May 13, 2014, nine years and more than nine months ago, and after that it achieved victory over Iran’s Zhon Ahan Isfahan, back and forth, in the eighth final of the 2019 edition. However, both matches took place on neutral grounds, the first in the UAE and the second in Qatar.

Ittihad Jeddah qualified for the round of 16 after topping the third group with 15 points, collected from winning 5 matches and suffering a loss in one match, while the Uzbekistan team qualified after occupying second place in its group with 13 points behind the leaders, Al-Hilal Saudi Arabia.
