Al-Hilal Saudi Arabia and Al-Sadd Advance, Wydad Exits Arab Championship

Al-Hilal Saudi Arabia and Al-Sadd qualified.. and Moroccan Wydad bid farewell to the Arab Championship

Al-Hilal Saudi Arabia and Al-Sadd of Qatar qualified for the second round of the 2023 Arab Championship competitions, on Wednesday, after finishing the group stage in the first and second places, at the time when Moroccan Wydad bid farewell from the first round by coming third in the group, and Al-Ahly Club, bottom of the group, represented it.

In the first match, Al-Hilal appeared with a strong face from the beginning of the confrontation, and seemed determined to score the first goal by pressing and taking possession of the ball and trying to create chances at the Wydad goal, which was lost in the first 10 minutes amid great pressure from the Saudi club, but then it improved on the field and began to try to advance more towards the goal of Al-Hilal, and succeeded in creating some attempts without much danger.

With the passage of time, the difference began to appear clearly in favor of the Saudi Al-Hilal team, given the large number of chances that it created in the first 40 minutes of the confrontation, up to the 41st minute, which witnessed the scoring of the deserved first goal, following a cross ball into the penalty area, which was followed by the player Milonkovic Savic on ” Al-Tair” against the Moroccan team Wydad, so that the Saudi club advanced with the first goal.

The second half started with strength from the two teams, and it seemed that the Moroccan team, Wydad, was better than the first 45 minutes, especially in terms of creating offensive attempts, and in the 57th minute, Wydad hit a powerful ball, scoring the equalizing goal, but the referee announced a mistake that occurred before the shot, and after the return. To the “video” technique, the referee confirmed the decision not to count the goal, due to a hand touch that preceded the shot and the goal.

After the players protested because of the arbitration shot, the Wydad team returned to quickly score the equalizer in the 64th minute, through the player Saif Al-Din Bohra, who hit a powerful ball from outside the area with force in the far corner of the difficult club Al-Hilal goalkeeper. After one minute, Al-Hilal responded quickly through the star, Ruben Neves, who scored the second goal, and things returned to the way they were, with the progress of the Saudi club.

After that, Wydad tried to fix things quickly and made several offensive attempts in order to equalize the score again, but all the chances did not rise to the risk required to score, at a time when the Al-Hilal team walked the remaining minutes of the confrontation calmly and as it wanted to reach the end, so that the Saudi team won (2 – 1), and qualifies for the second round, accompanied by the Qatari club Al-Sadd.

In the second match, the Qatari Al-Sadd achieved a deserved victory over Al-Ahly Trabes, Libya, with a clean goal, to ensure that it obtained 3 points that officially qualified it for the second round. With this result, the Qatari team topped the group with 7 points from two wins and a draw, and was succeeded by the Saudi Al-Hilal team with 4 points from a win, a draw and a loss. , while Wydad came third with two points from two draws and a loss, and Al-Ahly Trabes, Libya, represented it with the same balance of points.
