UAE Red Crescent Authority field teams continued their relief and humanitarian efforts in the Sudanese arena by distributing food baskets and shelter materials to families most in need and affected by torrential rains and floods in unit villages. Bandgiu of western Qalabat, a locality in the state of Gedaref in eastern Sudan, which has benefited more than 7,000 people.

Food aid and housing were distributed to residents of Bandgiu, which is more than 600km from the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, as part of the UAE’s humanitarian and relief efforts in Sudan, and in response to the appeal of villagers of Bandgiu living in difficult conditions, due to the sinking of their homes and their fields and the death of livestock due to torrential rains and torrential rains, which left a humanitarian catastrophe and massive loss of life and property.

Emirati aid to the Sudanese people comes within the relief airlift that the state has operated to help brothers hit by torrential rains and floods.

Emirati aid has reached residents of Bandgiu villages after they have been blocked by the humanitarian catastrophe; And this through small iron boats and trucks that had difficulty reaching the inhabitants of this stricken village, which was submerged by torrential rains and floods and cut off the roads leading to it.

Bandgiu residents expressed their thanks and gratitude to the leadership, government and people of the UAE for offering them a hand and assistance in these difficult humanitarian conditions, enduring the hardships of reaching them in their place and alleviating the harsh conditions they are going through.

For his part, Mohamed Abdel Rahman Mahboub, the governor of the Sudanese state of Gedaref, said in statements to the Emirates News Agency “WAM”: “We thank the Emirati brothers for the fraternal support they provide to the Sudanese people in various circumstances and his will to alleviate the human suffering experienced by Sudanese families in the states hit by torrential rains and floods that have swept away the greenery and the mainland.

He added: “We received the Emirati Red Crescent Field Teams for the second time in that short period, which provided a convoy of generous aid to residents of affected areas in the state with a convoy of food and shelter, in light of the impact of more than 23 villages in the Bandgiu unit, as well as some villages in other affected areas “. the cultivation amounted to about 65 thousand feddan, which increases the weight of the humanitarian situation.

Mahboub pointed out that the Bandgiu region, which has received help from the UAE, also suffers from an endemic disease, which is the “sand fly”, a disease that humans contract through the sting of sand flies.

For his part, Abdel-Wahab Ibrahim Awad, Minister of Education in charge of the State of Gedaref, said: “We were delighted to receive our brothers in the Emirates who have greatly relieved us and shared our problems and pains with us” . safe haven after their homes were destroyed by torrential rains, which delay the start of the educational process in the state, which includes more than 10,000 students who are now out of class.

He added: We thank the UAE for their fraternal position, their continued support and for offering us a hand and assistance to mitigate the catastrophic effects that have befallen us. (Street)
