The Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal confirmed the arrival of the star Brazilian representative Neymar. The media wrote about the transfer of the thirty-one-year-old striker from Paris Saint-Germain already on Monday, today the transfer was officially announced. The transfer fee should be around 90 million euros (2.16 billion crowns), which would be a record for the Saudi Arabian League.
“I’m here in Saudi Arabia. And I’m an Al-Hilal player,” Neymar said in a short video on the club’s X social network channel, formerly Twitter. According to the newspaper L’Equipe, the two-year contract will bring him 160 million euros (almost 3.9 billion crowns). Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly takes 200 million euros a year at Al-Nassr.

“It is never easy to say goodbye to such a great player. Neymar is one of the best footballers in the world and he has done a lot for our club in the last six years. Neymar will be among the big names the Saudi Arabian league has lured in recent months. After Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival at Al-Nassr in January, dozens of players from Europe’s top competitions followed the Portuguese star in the summer break to the Saudi Pro League, for which clubs from the oil powerhouse paid hundreds of millions of euros.
For example, Champions League winners Karim Benzema, Sadio Mané and Riyad Mahriz came to Saudi Arabia. The fee for Neymar surpassed the highest league fee ever paid for his compatriot Malcom. He transferred to Al-Hilal from St. Petersburg for around 60 million euros.
Al-Hilal, which is the most successful Asian club with 66 trophies, failed to sign Neymar’s former teammate Kylian Mbappé in the summer. PSG reportedly offered 300 million euros (about 7.25 billion crowns) for the French striker, which would make him the most expensive footballer in history. However, according to the media, the 24-year-old Mbappé did not even personally meet with the representatives of the team from Riyadh.
