Ait Ourir (Al-Haouz province) – The “Nidaa Al-Irada” Association organized, last weekend in Ait Ourir, belonging to the Al Haouz province, a blood collection campaign, with a view to replenish stocks in this vital matter at the level of this province.
Initiated in coordination with the Provincial Delegation of Health in Al Haouz and the Provincial Directorate of Culture, Youth and Sports, and under the supervision of the Regional Blood Transfusion Center (CRTS) of Marrakech, this human and united initiative has saw an increased participation of the inhabitants of the city, allowing the collection of 177 bags of blood.
“This solidarity campaign comes in response to the call for blood donation launched by the Regional Blood Transfusion Center of Marrakech in view of the significant drop in blood stocks caused by the health crisis linked to Covid-19”, declared at MAP, Mr. Ahmed Al Mehdaoui, president of the “Nidaa Al-Irada” Association.
In order to comply with the health protocol in force in order to preserve the health safety of donors, and to fight against the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, the organizers have adopted a variety of health and organizational measures, explained Mr. Al Mehdaoui.
In this wake, they distributed bibs and disinfectants to blood donors, while ensuring respect for physical distancing, and the organization of permanent sterilization and disinfection of medical equipment and spaces where blood is collected.
Blood donation is considered an act of charity and volunteerism aimed at saving human lives, in addition to its multiple benefits on the health of the blood donor, according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO).
WHO has continuously urged people to make the saving gesture of donating blood and raised awareness of the need for regular blood donation to ensure the quality, safety and availability of blood and blood products for patients who show a need for this vital material.
