Al Ghurair Food Company announced that it has laid the foundation stone for a poultry meat production plant in the Kizad-A (Kaizad Al Maamoura) area of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, which will also include the UAE’s largest poultry processing plant.
These facilities, located within a plot of land with a total area of 15.5 hectares, will include a hatchery, a poultry meat production plant, a processing plant, and another one for the treatment of liquid waste, which are all characterized by their design which. contributing to increasing efficiency in production, achieving sustainability, and benefiting from the latest technological innovations.
Abdullah Al Hameli, Head of Economic Cities and Free Zones Department at Abu Dhabi Ports Corporation, said: “We congratulate Al Ghurair Food Company for laying the foundation stone for a chicken meat production plant and famine here in the Kizad Group, and we are confident that this modern factory, as well as the cornstarch production plant, will contribute significantly to strengthening the system of local food production and confirms Al Ghurair’s long-term commitment to strengthening the UAE’s position. This announcement comes as a result of the agreement signed between Al Ghurair Foods and Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi – Kizad Group in April 2023, which includes land lease agreements for 50 years for three projects of large food production with investments exceeding a billion dirhams.
Earlier this year, Al Ghurair Foods started setting up the region’s first factory to produce cornstarch and a 60-hectare chicken farm in Kizad, noting the opening of a factory for liquid egg products last year in the same place.
For his part, John Josephides, CEO of Al Ghurair Group, said: “This new project is another achievement that is added to the achievements of our group within the framework of our investments worth a billion dirhams in food production projects in Kizad , and we aim forward. Our collaboration with well-known local partners such as “KIZAD” complimented the contribution of the new meat and poultry production plant to reinforce Al Ghurair Company’s enduring commitment to achieving food security and promoting economic growth in the UAE.
Hamad Abdullah Al Ghurair, Senior Vice President, Private and Commercial Projects at Al Ghurair Foods, said: “Laying the cornerstone of our new factory today is the best evidence of our commitment to an integrated poultry production system and create a stable in the UAE. “
The poultry and poultry meat production plant will initially have the capacity to hatch 10 million chickens a day and produce 10,000 tons of finished products annually to meet the needs of UAE residents.
As for the processing plant, it will be one of the largest private sector factories in the UAE, with the capacity to produce 1,600 tonnes of protein-rich feed and 400 tonnes of oil/fat from poultry waste . These foods will be reused as basic ingredients to feed other animals, such as fish, as well as being used as alternative fuel to generate energy, supporting the circular economy and reducing their impact on the environment.
