Gamal El-Ghandour, head of the referees committee in the Football Association, refused to calculate the percentage of referees’ mistakes in the first round of the Premier League, noting that the Egyptian Super between Al-Ahly and Zamalek in the UAE will witness the implementation of the video technology “VAR”.
Al-Ghandour said, in statements to the “Match” program via “Echo Al-Balad” channel on Monday evening: “I will not count the percentage of errors of referees in the first round, and I am satisfied with the performance of the arbitration by 75%.”
He added: “The penalty kicks in the Ismaili and Zamalek match, during the two teams’ confrontation, are correct, but the goal of the military production in the Egyptian clearing match came offside.”
Ghandour went on to talk about the application of video technology, saying: “There will be wider experiences of training on video technology in the stadiums of the Sports and Arab Contractors Authority.”
He continued: “Video technology will be applied in the league when we obtain sufficient licenses, and the training period will be from 6 to 8 months, and what we have achieved so far is a miracle.”
He continued: “The Egyptian supercar in the UAE will witness the application of video technology, but with an Emirati arbitration crew.”
He explained: “We are negotiating the referees of the Al-Ahly and Zamalek matches in the Super and the Egyptian League, and we will announce through the official website later.”
“The referee of Switzerland and France will be excluded from the top match because of the poles,” Ghandour said. Rene Fyler, coach of Al-Ahly Swiss club, and Patrice Carteron, coach of Zamalek, will hold French citizenship.
