Khaled Al-Ghandour, the former star of Zamalek, refused to compare Mostafa Mohamed, the team’s striker, to Marwan Mohsen, his counterpart in Al-Ahly, indicating that the white team is better than its red rival at the moment.
Al-Ghandour said, hosted by “On Time Sports” channel in the early hours of Tuesday morning: “I used to see myself becoming a great coach, especially as I have a good vision for the players. I am the first to say that the Moroccan has honored the publishing of the century deal for Zamalek.”
He added, “I am not a member of the Zamalek club, and it is not my dream to be in the board of directors, and I left Zamalek due to an electoral struggle between Mortada Mansour and Kamal Darwish.”
He continued: “Farouk Jaafar asked for me to join the arsenal and told me that he would make me the best soccer player in Egypt and I agreed because of him, but I was surprised by his departure to Al-Masry after he got a higher contract there and I had to continue against my will after signing the club.”
He explained: “I moved to the arsenal when Muhammad Abu Trika left the club, and I was exposed to strange situations during my presence with the team, and if time came back I would have refused to join the club.”
He continued: “I was the best player in Egypt in 1993 and 1994, and I was among the best players in Africa from France Football magazine because of the talent that God gave me, but I wronged myself and was subjected to injustice.”
Regarding his media views, Al-Ghandour affirmed: “I do not cause congestion as it is reported, and my view is that Zamalek is subjected to injustice. I saw that there are cases that are not repeated in the Tala` Al-Jaysh semi-final match of the Egypt Cup, the idea of defending your club in the right is not a defect.”
He added: “If I talk about security reasons, I am accused of inciting fanaticism, I agree on that, but last year when Al-Ahly issued a statement rejecting the security decision regarding the Zamalek match, does that increase Al-Ahly fanaticism?”
And about the better generation between Zamalek and Al-Ahly at the present time, Al-Ghandour asserted: “Zamalek has a better list than Al-Ahly. Al-Ahly plays collectively, but Zamalek, as a skilled group, has a better team and has those who can make the difference.”
He explained: “Mohamed El-Shenawy, Al-Ahly’s goalkeeper, is the first goalkeeper for the Egyptian national team, and Mohamed Abu Jabal, Zamalek’s goalkeeper, is no less than him if he got his chance with the national team.”
He continued: “Al-Shennawi was not present when he was at Petrojet, and when he came to Al-Ahly, he was a reserve and he performed poorly and committed many mistakes and was the fourth goalkeeper in the national team.”
And he continued: “It is calculated for El-Shennawi that he succeeded in developing himself and worked hard after obtaining an opportunity. At the technical level, I see that he and Muhammad Abu Jabal are the best goalkeepers in Egypt, but on the ground, Muhammad Al-Shennawi is the first goalkeeper for the Egyptian team.”
He stressed: “Marwan Mohsen is a good spearhead, but he is under great psychological pressure, and the evidence is that all coaches rely on him fundamentally, the last of which is Betsu Musimani, who preferred him to Aliu Badji.”
He stressed: “Mustafa Mohamed is the first striker in Egypt, and whoever says otherwise does not understand football, and it is not permissible to compare him with Marwan Mohsen because there is no competition. There are those who put Marwan Mohsen in comparison with Mustafa Muhammad because he plays for Al-Ahly.”
Khaled Al-Ghandour concluded his remarks, saying: “Khalaf Mustafa Mohamed in the Egyptian League, Hossam Hassan, the Smouha striker, comes second, and I see that Ashraf Bencharki is the best player in general in the Egyptian League.”
