Al Dhaid Dates Festival: Celebrating the Best Dates in Sharjah

Sharjah, 7 October / WAM / The activities of the third edition of the Al Dhaid Dates Festival, organized by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry during the period from 6 to 8 October, began yesterday evening at Expo Center Al Dhaid, with the participation of more than 50 exhibitors from producers, retailers and date growers across the country. State level.

The opening of the festival activities was witnessed by His Excellency Jamal Muhammad Sultan bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi, Member of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Chamber, Abdul Aziz Muhammad Shattaf, Assistant Director General of the Sharjah Chamber for the Communication and Business Sector, and Muhammad Musabah Al Taniji, the general coordinator of the festival.

The attendees toured the festival’s corridors, met a number of exhibitors and listened to an explanation of the types and varieties of dates they display. They also inspected the producing family’s stands and learned about their display of many heritage and traditional industries and products.

On its first day, the event’s activities received a large turnout from farmers and palm owners from the Emirate of Sharjah and various emirates of the country to participate in the first competitions and auctions of the festival, which is the Al Haseel date auction competition and the luxury dates auction.

The display platforms also witnessed the presence of thousands of visitors to see the participants’ display of the finest types and varieties of dates and to purchase palm frond products with multiple uses.

Abdul Aziz Muhammad Shattaf pointed out that the Sharjah Chamber continues for the third year in a row to organize this economic, cultural and heritage event, which quickly succeeded in securing an important place for it among the festivals that celebrate the palm tree at the state level.

He stressed the importance of the festival in preserving the ancient cultural and heritage heritage of the people of the Emirates, supporting the owners of palm-producing farms, developing palm cultivation and date production, and achieving the best possible benefit from this industry, by providing all the capabilities to the farm owners to facilitate the cultivation, production and marketing of dates more effectively, in addition to exchanging Expertise, experience, and access to the best techniques and practices adopted in palm cultivation and date production.

He pointed out that the growing participation and great interest of the festival by palm growers across the country comes as a culmination of the efforts made by the Sharjah Chamber in terms of increasing the momentum of the festival, cycle after cycle, and developing its activities and competitions.

For his part, Muhammad Musabah Al Tunaiji said that the Al Dhaid Dates Festival continues its successes year after year, as this year witnesses an increasing demand from participants to display and present the best date and fruit products that their farms abound, and to win competitions that the Sharjah Chamber is keen to organize, with the aim of encouraging the strengthening of the position of The palm tree and the incentive to plant and care for it, in addition to introducing this generous tree, which occupies a special place in the conscience and culture of the people of the Emirates and their ancient heritage.

He pointed out that the entries in the competitions and auctions on the first day were valuable and of high quality, reflecting the commitment of palm owners and farmers to improving the quality of their farms’ production and their keenness to display the finest types and varieties of dates for which the UAE is famous.

The festival recorded strong competition among participants since its first day, which included a Hazel date auction competition and a luxury dates auction, while the second day witnessed a fard date auction competition and a luxury dates and molasses auction, while the third day will include a luxury dates auction.

The festival also includes a program full of heritage events, in addition to organizing competitions and other interesting events that allow visitors to learn about dates, recipes, and the food industries associated with them.

The corridors of the festival, which continues to welcome its visitors daily from ten in the morning until nine in the evening, witnessed a wide participation of productive families, registering a distinguished presence through the wide display of handicraft products and traditional crafts related to palm trees, such as makharif, mazmah, mujba, sroud, mahfa, sword, myth, and other heritage and traditional products.
