The majority of stores sent text messages on mobile phones to customers as a kind of propaganda and to announce the start of the sales season, which in some stores reached more than 50%, as this coincides with the approaching celebration of Eid Al-Adha.
The managers of stores and restaurants unanimously agreed that the sales season is a major cause of crowding in malls by shoppers, as crowds usually begin from the first moments of the sales start, as customers gather in front of the doors of the complexes in order to seize the opportunity to win the cheap goods announced by the stores and appeared on the billboards, which raise There is a factor of excitement and suspense in the soul, which is something that attracts consumers greatly and pushes them to shop and buy, or even just enter to visit the mall, even if they do not have enough determination to acquire things, but to see and take advantage of the available opportunity.
The malls in Bahrain have already begun to receive visitors from inside and outside the Kingdom, where the manager of a clothing store, Abdullah Mounir, confirmed that the rate of customer demand for purchase usually increases in this period of the year due to the start of the summer vacation season, in addition to the offers of discounts that many customers are waiting for by a wide margin. Patience, pointing out that offers start at a small rate and increase at the end of the season, which is expected to be at the end of next July.
And the store manager stated that every owner of a company or commercial brand is keen to develop a distinct promotional plan that is different from other stores in order to attract the largest number of customers coinciding with the peak of competition in the markets these days, as there are classified ads and the strength of promotions helps to reach the goal, which is Attracting customers.
Mounir expected that the clothing market would witness a good turnout during this period, noting that many stores would offer many offers to customers, which would intensify competition.
In the same context, Hazem Abdel-Razzaq, director of the retail sector for a famous commercial group, said: “We organize many promotional campaigns in conjunction with the school vacation season and coinciding with the residents going to their countries to visit the parents bearing gifts,” noting that these campaigns revive the shopping movement and the turnout encourages owners Stores to offer real and attractive discounts to shoppers.
Abdul Razzaq mentioned that presenting promotional offers that are different from traditional campaigns increases the movement of shoppers, for example, receiving customers with souvenirs about Bahrain for residents, along with artistic displays that they find in their reception throughout the promotional campaign period, in addition to offering Bahraini sweets and Arabic coffee.
Hazem pointed out the importance of including the group’s branches in the promotional campaign and not limiting it to one branch so that the service reaches all customers in various regions of the Kingdom.
Regarding online purchase applications, Abdul Razzaq said: “The Corona period was an opportunity for online shopping, but what we notice now is the return of customers to their previous era, which is shopping between stores to see and examine the goods, and then the purchase process comes.”
For his part, the manager of a restaurant chain in one of the malls, Islam Saleh, said, “Promotional offers and discounts in stores of different trades contribute to the revitalization of other sectors such as restaurants and cafes inside the malls, due to the marketing intensity and the demand for visitors from inside and outside Bahrain.”
Saleh mentioned that the season of discounts contributes to reviving the tourism sector significantly, noting that visitors to the Kingdom of Bahrain from neighboring countries are looking forward to the season of sales in Bahrain due to its distinction and the large number of distinguished promotional campaigns in it, which differ from others in other countries.
A number of shoppers confirmed that the promotional campaigns increased their enthusiasm for shopping, suggesting that the vast majority of customers prefer to see the goods in person and try them before buying, while others went to online shopping, which was very active due to the Corona pandemic, which greatly weakened shopping in malls.
Everyone agreed that the sales season is a good opportunity to purchase personal and family needs, through promotions and announcing the reduction of some prices for selected commodities and not others, which achieves the desired goal of easing the burden on families whose budgets incur a lot of spending on these occasions.
Some shoppers indicated that the products offered in the sales of clothes and accessories are old and date back to the past years, explaining that the modern products were not included in most of the offers, or that they included offers in very small percentages compared to other products.
During these seasons, many websites offer tips for people to enable them to benefit from the sales season, including the need to determine needs before shopping, which helps focus on the quality of stores and saves time and money.
