In view of what was circulated on some social media regarding the appeal of a group of workers whose services were laid off in a private sector company, due to the awarding of the tender in the government sector to another company.
The Ministry of Labor would like to state that it has immediately taken measures to ensure the transfer of workers to suitable jobs in the other company, noting that the Ministry has completed procedures for hiring 74 workers wishing to join the other company in cooperation and coordination with the government agency and the employer concerned in this regard.
While 17 workers expressed their desire to work in other entities or to be referred to retirement and their unwillingness to continue working, and 21 other workers still did not respond to complete the recruitment procedures, despite the new company welcoming all 112 workers of the previous company.
The Ministry also affirms the commitment of the former company to pay the dues resulting from the termination of the employment contract, in accordance with what is stipulated in Labor Law No. (36) of 2012.
In conclusion, the Ministry of Labor would like to emphasize that it is continuing to perform its executive role and its continuous endeavor to regulate the relationship between workers and employers, guarantee the rights of all workers, preserve their gains and job stability, and provide decent job opportunities for all citizens.
