Representatives of the new parliamentary committee for the Bahrainization of jobs in the government and private sectors told Al-Bilad that they will seek to merge the Ministry of Labor with the Civil Service Bureau, take the recommendations of the 2018 committee, and take the opinion of the unemployed through all available channels, to submit its recommendations to the government.
MP Khaled Buang said: The request to form a committee to Bahrainize new jobs in the public and private sectors will focus primarily on the work of the Civil Service Bureau and the Ministry of Labor, with full transparency.
He added, “We will closely follow what the Labor Market Regulatory Authority is doing with regard to converting tourist visas into work visas, as nearly 46,000 visas have been converted, according to a previous statement by the Minister of Labor, Jamil Humaidan, which is unacceptable.”
He stressed the interest of the committee members in coming up with decisive recommendations for the Bahrainization of jobs in the Kingdom of Bahrain, given the steady increase in the number of unemployed, by focusing on strengthening the purchasing power in the local market, by reducing the unemployment rate.
And he continued: “Our aspirations through the committee is to eliminate unemployment, and to merge the Ministry of Labor with the Civil Service Bureau, as the number of unemployed is 18,000 according to official statements, including 8,000 who are insured with other jobs that do not suit their qualifications, which means the existence of conflict and lack of Coordination between the competent authorities in this regard.
And he added, “We will strive to increase the number of Bahrainis working in the private sector, and for the human resources departments in government companies to be Bahrainized, and to raise them from 25% to 90% and more, as the current percentage is unsatisfactory and frustrating for people, not to mention that we refuse to be controlled by foreigners.” the fate of the Bahraini with regard to employment.”
And he added, “A number of laws that reinforce these recommendations will be included in the government, to ensure the achievement of its goals on the ground, with the expectation that they will benefit everyone.”
“We will also seek to cancel contracts with companies outside the government, and instead employ Bahrainis, and work to raise the wages of citizens in the private sector, which is not currently in line with inflation, the high cost of living, and people’s conditions,” he said.
He reported, “These projects can be supported through the Unemployment Fund, the Generations Fund, and others.”
