Al-Bilad Newspaper | Asian businessman uses fake “500 riyals”.

A 23-year-old Asian businessman resorted to the idea of bringing a counterfeit currency of 500 Saudi riyals (equivalent to 50 dinars) into the Kingdom of Bahrain and using it to buy from two commercial stores, which are a general trading company and a supermarket.
Before last Ramadan, the Asian had bought rice worth 3.5 dinars, and handed the worker 500 riyals, but the worker felt that the banknote was fake, so he called his brother, who came and spoke with the Asian and asked him to wait, but he fled, leaving behind his two slippers that fell while he was fleeing.
Last Ramadan, he also bought movables from a store of a general trading company worth 6 dinars, paid 500 riyals, and the worker returned 44 dinars to him, who later on the same day discovered that the currency was fake, so he destroyed it and threw it away.
After about a week, the Asian returned to buy from the same company, so he bought movables for 6 dinars, and handed the worker 500 riyals, and he noticed the similarity between this currency and the fake currency last week; So he asked the Asian to wait, but he preferred to leave the store, so the worker followed him, caught him, and called the police.
Yesterday (Thursday), the Fourth High Criminal Court considered the case of the Asian accused of promoting a counterfeit 500 Saudi riyal currency, and it was set for August 31. To hear defense witnesses on behalf of the accused and order him to bring them to the closing pleadings, while the accused continues to be imprisoned.
The court had begun hearing the case on Thursday (8 August), where the accused denied knowing that the banknotes were forged.
According to the records of the Public Prosecution, it was proven in the report of the Forgery and Counterfeiting Department of the Physical Evidence Department that the 500 riyal note seized in the incident was fake. The second witness recognized the accused when his picture was shown in the evidence collection records.
