The husband tricked his wife into coming to the Kingdom of Bahrain to spend their honeymoon, and upon their arrival, she was surprised that the honeymoon was nothing but a deception. To exploit her to work in prostitution.
Details indicate that the victim married her husband in their Arab country, and her husband brought her to Bahrain to spend their honeymoon. When she arrived in the country, the friend received them at the airport and took them to a hotel and left. Upon arriving at the hotel, she was surprised that her husband was asking her to work in the field of prostitution with men in exchange for money, so she refused. The wife requested her husband, which led to her husband assaulting her by severely beating her with his hand on various parts of her body, causing injuries, in addition to confiscating her passport to force her to request it. He threatened to kill her if she informed her country’s embassy of the incident, and therefore the victim submitted to her husband’s request against her will, and one day The husband’s friend came to her, took her to a hotel, detained her in a room, and told her the amount of money she would get as a result of the sinful act. The act was repeated many times, as the friend’s task was to take the victim to the hotel room, receive the sums of money from the customers, and deliver them to the husband, until one day the victim was able to escape and go. To the police station and report the incident.
Police investigations indicated that the human trafficking incident had occurred, and that the runaway husband incited the victim to engage in prostitution and relied entirely on what she earned, and that the friend delivered the victim to the hotel room and collected sums of money from the customers.
When the friend appeared before the court, he denied his relationship with his son in the incident of trafficking the victim, pointing out that he is a businessman and engaged in several commercial activities, stating that he did not know the husband and his relationship with him consisted of receiving them at the airport and transporting them to the hotel when she arrived in Bahrain on the recommendation of one of his friends in their country. The fact that the husband did not know anything about the country, and the friend did not communicate with the couple after that, and that he hosted the victim in his residence where he lived with his family for one day; Due to disagreements between the victim and her husband, the High Criminal Court ruled that the husband be imprisoned in absentia for 10 years, and the friend imprisoned for 5 years, and his final deportation from the country after serving the sentence, while it acquitted the son of the charge against him, and obligated them to pay the expenses of returning the victim to her country.
In the merits of its ruling acquitting the twenty-year-old son, the court said that the case documents lacked any evidence of the son’s participation in detaining the victim’s freedom.
