Aluminum Bahrain B.S.C. Alba is the first smelter in the region to successfully obtain recertification according to the latest version (3rd edition) of the Aluminum Sustainability Initiative (ASI) Performance Standard, which was announced in May 2022.

This certificate is valid for 3 years, starting from the end of last August, and the company was able to obtain it after a detailed audit process at Alba’s work sites and facilities, which resulted in the absence of any major cases of non-conformity with standards.

The accreditation certificate included the company’s activities in the production and marketing of primary aluminum from alumina, the calcining of petroleum coke, water desalination, the manufacture of anode molds, in addition to smelting and casting operations and energy production, at the company’s calcining plant and smelter sites in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

On the occasion of this achievement, the CEO of the company, Ali Al-Baqali, stated, “Our obtaining the accreditation certificate from the Aluminum Sustainability Initiative confirms our commitment to environmental protection, transparency, and social responsibility. Among the responsible producers in the global aluminum industry.

It is noteworthy that Alba joined the Aluminum Sustainability Initiative as a member in the Production and Transformation category since February 2019, while the company obtained the Performance Standard Certificate of the initiative in January 2020, followed by the Chain of Custody Standard Certificate in April 2023.
