Representative Hisham Al-Ashiri said that mobile phone users were surprised that the tariff price was raised without prior warning, as soon as they received a message in this regard, wondering about the reasons for the telecom companies’ tendency to raise the tariff.
He confirmed that he contacted all telecom companies to clarify the reasons for the lifting, and all of them confirmed that the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority is responsible for the lifting process.
In turn, the Minister of Transport and Communications, Thamer Al-Kaabi, said that there are more than two million subscribers to telephone services, and that the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority is a regulatory body, and therefore the prices of these services are determined by licensed companies and the authority does not interfere in the process of setting prices or even approving them.
