Recent official data showed that the share of Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco) increased by the end of 2022, thus acquiring the largest share of the mobile market, in an indication of the intensity of competition, especially between it and stc Bahrain.
Number transfers witnessed a significant increase during the year 2022, as the numbers showed that about 53.6 thousand number transfers were recorded between telecom companies.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority’s statistics indicated that Batelco increased its market share by the end of 2022, to reach 38%, compared to 36% a year earlier, leading mobile companies in the Kingdom in terms of the number of subscribers.
In second place came “stc Bahrain”, whose market share decreased from 36% to 35% in the same period, as well as “Zain Bahrain”, which ranked last with a market share of 27%.
Batelco strengthened its share in the postpaid mobile market, which maintains stable and high income rates compared to prepaid services, as its market share in postpaid subscriptions increased by the end of 2022 to 41% compared to 40% a year ago, at the expense of stc Bahrain, which It fell by a percentage point to its share of 40%, as the company had held the lead for more than two years.
As for “Zain”, its market share in the billing system decreased to 19%, when its market share had ranged between 19 and 20% over the past two years.
In the prepaid system, the three companies are more converging in market share, but Batelco leads with 37%, followed by stc Bahrain with 33% and Zain with 30%.
