Swiss Marcel Kohler, coach of the first Egyptian Al-Ahly football team, explained that the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, the “radiant jewel” in Jeddah, which hosted his team’s match against Al-Ittihad, helped in the victory and the players gave their best.
Al-Ahly defeated Al-Ittihad 3-1 during the confrontation that brought together the two teams, within the second stage of the 2023 Club World Cup.
Kohler said in a press conference after the match: “We played today in a very beautiful stadium, and this makes you give everything you have, and this is what happened today.”
He added: “Today we played a special match and scored goals, and all the players performed well, and each match is different from the other due to the difference in the opponent.”
The Swiss coach concluded his speech: “Now we are thinking about meeting Brazilian Fluminense in the semi-finals, which is considered difficult, and we followed the final and their crowning in the championship in Argentina.”
