Mohamed Morjane, executive director of Al-Ahly club, announced that his club had submitted an official request to hold the Moroccan Wydad Casablanca match in the second leg of the African Champions League semi-final round at “Cairo Stadium” instead of “Burj Al Arab”.
Morgan added in statements via “Yallakora” today, Wednesday, that his club had already obtained the approval of the Egyptian Football Association, along with the security authorities, to hold the return match at the “Cairo Stadium”.
During his statements, Morjane noted that Al-Ahly administration is waiting for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to respond “sufficient” about the match transfer request.
A source in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) also indicated that CAF agreed to hold a Wydad match at Cairo Stadium.
Al-Ahly had played the Sundowns match in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the African Champions League competition at the “Cairo Stadium” in a match that witnessed Tunisian international Ali Maaloul recording the two goals of the meeting.
Al-Ahly managed to cross to the Round of Four by beating Sundowns (3-1) on aggregate, back and forth.
Al-Ahly will go out to face Moroccan Wydad Casablanca at the “Mohammed V” stadium next Saturday. In contrast, the return match will be held on the 24th of this month.
It is worth noting that the second party in the semi-final match of the African Champions League competition will bring together the duo Zamalek and Moroccan Raja Casablanca.
