Mohamed Morgan, executive director of Al-Ahly club, denied that his club management knew of any complaint from Al-Mars Club against Mahmoud Abdel-Moneim “Kahraba”, the team’s wing, against the background of the two teams’ match in the group stage of the African Champions League.
“The relationship between us and the Al-Mars Club is very good, and it is the first club that honored us after we were crowned bronze in the Club World Cup,” Morgan said in his statements at Leela Koura on Friday.
He continued: “Al-Merrikh gifted Al-Ahly the club’s shield, and it was the pinnacle of sportsmanship, and they said about us that we honored African and Arab football and during the match, Mars gave his shirt to Al-Ahly and the same thing happened to us.”
He added, “Al-Ahly appreciates the Al-Mars Club very much, the relationship is strong, and respects it very much, and honoring them was dear to us all, and this is the sporting spirit and ethics that should always be between us.”
Al-Ahly beat Al-Merrikh 3-0 in the first round match of the African Champions League group stage.
