Al-Ahly and Pyramids will meet in the final of the “ninetieth edition” of the Egyptian Football Cup, today, at the Cairo International Stadium.
Al-Ahly, the runner-up of the last edition, “2021”, and the record holder in the number of wins, “37”, seeks to regain the title that he lost in the last edition in favor of his traditional rival, Zamalek, in July 2022, while the Pyramids players and their technical staff aspire to achieve the first title in the club’s history.
Al-Ahly previously met with Pyramids in 11 matches, and each of them won 4 times and tied in 3 matches.
The two teams met twice in the cup, and Pyramids excelled in the round of 16 in 2018 with a goal, while Al-Ahly won 2-1 in the quarter-finals of the last edition on June 26, 2022.
Pyramids’ best results were its runner-up in 2019, when it lost to Zamalek by three goals.
Al-Ahly qualified for the third final in a row, after overcoming Smouha in the semi-finals 3-1, while Pyramids qualified at the expense of Zamalek with a penalty shootout 4-3 after a 1-1 draw.
