AkzoNobel sold much more paint to consumers in recent months NOW

Paint and coating group AkzoNobel has seen an increase in the demand for paint for in and around the house in recent months. The demand exceeded expectations, the Dutch multinational announced Monday when publishing a trade update.

“We clearly see that the demand for home paint has increased tremendously,” said a spokesperson. It has previously become clear that consumers have started doing odd jobs as a result of the corona crisis, which forced people to stay at home.

Akzo does not provide further details yet, which will follow when the second quarter figures will be published on July 22. It has already been announced that turnover was nearly 20 percent lower in the period from April to June, at 2.5 billion euros. The operating result decreased from 305 million to 238 million euros.

Recovery is in sight. In June, sales were down 5 percent year-over-year, down from 20 percent in May and nearly 30 percent in April. This was mainly due to lagging turnover in the aviation and car industry.

AkzoNobel is active in 150 countries.
