Akrita: She resigned from the KO of SYRIZA – Pappas did not accept her – 2024-09-22 05:53:59

After the uproar caused by the post of the SYRIZA MP, Elena Akrita, “about the son of the washerwoman”, as she announced on social media, she submitted her resignation.

Specifically, he stated that: “Despite the fact that I apologized for my mistake, I judged that I have a moral duty to resign from the Parliamentary Group of SYRIZA PS. I sent a relevant letter to the President of KO putting my seat at the disposal of the party. Nikos Pappas did not accept my resignation, considering that, in this case, public admission, recognition and restoration is enough. This is how I go about life. With right, with mistakes always guided by my value system and my conscience”.
According to information, her resignation was not accepted as, as Nikos Pappa’s associates told Vima, her apology was sufficient.

The timeline of the case

This year marks the 100th anniversary of Lenin’s death and it seems rather difficult to connect with today’s SYRIZA, but it happened. A phrase often misattributed to him was enough to trigger a new round of infighting in the main opposition party.

The Member of State, Elena Akrita, made a mocking post last night about the new polls that have been published and in which SYRIZA is the 5th party. “We are doing well, the world adores us, we continue to play the same violin brilliantly. Appeal to the polls yesterday”, she writes, among other things, in the post in which she has uploaded a photo of her bedroom. A swimming pool can be seen in the background.

This image caused a wave of comments with her replying “and to catch up with them, yes the house has had a pool for almost 40 years, since 1985 when it was built. If I had something to hide I wouldn’t have photographed her. Don’t be afraid of the full one, be afraid of the washerwoman’s son. Who entered politics with a hole in his underpants found himself with a colossal fortune.”

The last sentence, about the washerwoman’s son, was enough to cause an explosion and fierce confrontation on social media. The post of the former representative of SYRIZA, Stergios Kalpakis, is typical, where he mentions, among other things, “what a shame”.

Elena Akrita, of course, made a new post claiming that “I would like to correct something I wrote yesterday. The phrase “fear not the full, fear the washerwoman’s son” is wrongly attributed to Lenin. Error. A mistake that many have made, myself among them, more than once. Lenin would never have written something so disparaging and I should have evaluated and cross-referenced it. I am truly sorry.”

Even her apologetic post didn’t tone it down. In fact, Ms. Akrita opened a new confrontation with Alexis Tsipras’ sister, Janet, who commented on another post about the SYRIZA MP. In Ms. Tsipras’s comment, she states that “the pool was declared since 1985 as a cesspool (septic tank) so that we know what we are talking about… and not as a swimming tank (swimming pool). Because it will drive us crazy in the end.”

Ms. Akrita responded particularly sharply, saying, among other things, “think of your whole journey in this life being summed up in a quality of ‘sister Tsipras.’ In more detail, the State Member of Parliament reports: “Janet Tsipras – the lady who calls SYRIZA a “formation” because it has Kasselakis as its president – attacked me with … too much enthusiasm. I met her last year at Syntagma when she came and introduced herself to me:

– I am the sister of Alexis Tsipras, he told me.

Think of your whole path in this life being summed up in one quality: “Sister Tsipras”. I understand her.”

What does Parliament’s regulation say about resignations?

Mrs. Akrita informed the president of the parliamentary group in a written message that her seat is available to the party. However, this was not accepted.

However, the regulation of the Parliament (article 5) and the Constitution (article 60), stipulate that in order for a member of parliament to resign from his office, he must send a relevant letter to the President of the Parliament. His resignation is not revoked.

The filling of the position is done in accordance with the provisions of the electoral legislation.
