Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Azis Syamsuddin, questioned by the public prosecutor (JPU) about his introduction to the former KPK investigator, AKP Stepanus Robin Pattuju. Azis admitted that he knew Robin through his friend.
Azis said his friend Agus introduced Robin to him. Azis said Agus and Robin were classmates in the police force.
“Initially introduced to Robin by the police?” asked the prosecutor at the Medan District Court (PN), Monday (26/7/2021).
“The police, Mr. Agus. He was the Chief Sergeant in Cilacap,” said Azis. Azis was presented as a virtual witness in this trial.
The prosecutor had time to ask the purpose of Agus introducing Robin to Azis. Azis replied that he did not know Agus’ purpose. The prosecutor further asked about the location of Azis being introduced to Robin.
“At my house, he came. Pak Agus is the son of a boarding school in Tangerang,” said Azis.
He says Robin never came to his house once. Azis admitted that Robin had come to his house when he was not there.
“If more than once I feel more. Sometimes he comes without me at home. Talking about household,” he said.
Azis also said that he had lent money to Robin of Rp. 200 million and 10 million. The money, said Azis, was used by Robin for family matters.
“If borrow there is. Instead of asking, language to me borrow. To be exact, there are approximately Rp 200 million or Rp 150 million,” he said.
Azis was then asked if he knew where Robin worked. Azis admitted that he knew Robin worked at the KPK, not at the beginning of his introduction.
“At first I didn’t know. He came to the foster home name tag NCP, I asked, ‘Work at the KPK, Mas? (Answered) yes,” he said.
However, Azis admitted that he forgot when asked about whether Robin borrowed money when he knew where Robin worked.
“I forget exactly,” he said.
Azis was then asked the reason for giving money to Robin. Azis said he lent the money because Robin was introduced by a close friend named Agus.
“Because, first he was introduced by my old friend, the police. In attitude I know him well, his behavior is also good, never mess around. Because he is still young I consider my sister,” said Azis.
“As much as I can help people, as long as my intention is to help fellow human beings, I’ll just help,” he added.
Azis denied that he brought Robin together and introduced the inactive Tanjungbalai Mayor, Syahrial.
“I did not introduce (Robin and Syahrial) directly. At that time I was in a meeting discussing the preparation of the North Sumatra Golkar format,” he said.
Azis said Syahrial came to his house with the North Sumatran Golkar group. Meanwhile, Robin has come to his official residence several times.
Azis said that when Syahrial and Robin met, he was only in the house for the Golkar meeting. He admitted that he had greeted Robin who was in the pavilion behind his house by waving his hand.
For information, Syahrial was arrested for bribing former KPK investigator AKP Stepanus Robin Pattuju. In this case, AKP Robin allegedly received Rp 1.3 billion of the Rp 1.5 billion promised by the inactive Tanjungbalai Mayor M Syahrial to secure the case in Tanjungbalai which is being handled by the KPK.
