Akhila’s transfer cancelled; Wear a badge indicating ’41 days of unpaid service’ to work.

Thiruvananthapuram – Akhila S. Nair, the conductor of Vaikom depot wearing a uniform and writing a poster protesting against non-payment of salary at KSRTC, was transferred to Pala. Transport Minister Antony Raju informed that the action was taken after the CMD’s report. At the same time, the minister also stated in the press conference that the things displayed on the Akhila badge are against the facts. The minister pointed out that the salary was delayed only for 6 days, but the employee displayed on the badge that she was delayed for 41 days. 5th is the salary day in KSRTC. The minister added that transfer is not a punitive measure.

Akhila was transferred from Vaikom depot to Pala on the last day after wearing the badge of ‘Salmasala seva 41-am Divas’. KSRTC’s position is that the protest defamed the government. They came to work wearing protest badges on January 11.

One of the passengers took a picture of it and circulated it through social media and it became widely discussed. The transfer order stated that in the investigation conducted by the Corporation, Akhila had committed a breach of discipline, defamed the Government and the Corporation and was transferred for administrative convenience. The order was canceled amid widespread protests against it.

Akhila, an MSc and B.D., has been a KSRTC employee for 13 years. Last year, when he did not get his salary for the months of March and April, he went on a hunger strike at the Vaikom depot on Vishu day.
