Strengthening the kingdom’s pharmaceutical sovereignty can increase health security and ensure equal access to drugs and medical care, the prime minister said, adding that by supporting domestic production and manufacturing of generic drugs, citizens will have access to basic medicines at affordable prices. In this regard, Akhannouch reiterated the government’s strong support for the project for the production plant of vaccines against Covid-19 and other vaccines, the construction of which was authorized by King Mohammed VI, have been initiated, a work that will strengthen the kingdom’s vaccine sovereignty and make vaccines available in bulk to Africa.
Encourage blood donations
The blood stock situation in the Kingdom is worrying according to several alerts issued by the professionals concerned. On this subject, Akhannouch stressed that the government is working on the establishment of the Moroccan Blood Agency as soon as possible to achieve self-sufficiency in vital blood products while blood transfusion centers in Morocco are facing difficulties. and that this issue is vital for the health of the population, since the strategic blood supply lasts only a few days.
The agency is to develop and implement a national strategy for the supply of blood and blood products, issue permits for the establishment of blood supply in regional health association hospitals, develop diagnostic and treatment and ensure compliance with blood donation standards.
