The KPK determined AKBP Bambang Kayun as a suspect in alleged bribery and tipping. Bambang Kayun is alleged to have received up to Rp 50 billion in funds.
“The BK suspect has received money in stages suspected to be tips and related to his position from various parties, amounting to around Rp 50 billion,” KPK President Firli Bahuri said at a news conference at the KPK building, Jalan Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday (1/3/2023).
Firli said there were two people suspected of bribery AKBP Bambang Kayuni.e. ES and HW. The bribes and bonuses would be linked to the handling of the dispute over the rights of PT ACM’s heirs. Both have started communicating with Bambang Kayun since May 2016.
From the two of them, Bambang Kayun received cash flow of up to 5 billion rupees. The money was sent in 2016.
“Suspect BK received around 5 billion rupees from ES and HW, technically by wire transfer using an account of a trusted person,” Firli said.
Firli said that Bambang Kayun then received another flow of funds from ES and HW in 2021 for IDR 1 billion. At that time ES and HW had suspect status in Bareskrim Polri.
“Suspect BK around December 2016 is also suspected to have received IDR 1 billion from ES and HW to assist with case handling so the two did not cooperate during the investigation process until ES and HW escaped and were included in the DPO of investigators at Bareskrim Polri HQ,” Firli said.
AKBP Bambang Kayun has now been named as a suspect and charged under Article 12(a) or Article 12(b) or Articles 11 and 12B of RI Law No. 31 of 1999 Concerning Criminal Corruption Acts. AKBP Bambang Kayun will undergo his first detention for the next 20 days at the KPK Detention Center.
