Former Wakaden B of Paminal Divpropam Polri Bureau AKBP Arif Rachman Arifin admitted he was sure at first Freddy Sambo and Putri Candrawathi was honest about the crash that killed Brigadier N Yosua Hutabarat. However, that all changed after Arif saw the CCTV footage at Sambo’s official residence compound.
Arif is one of the defendants in the CCTV vandalism case that obstructed the investigation into Yosua’s murder. He was presented as a witness for former accused Karo Paminal Polri Hendra Kurniawan and Kaden A Paminal Agus Nurpatria in South Jakarta District Court on Thursday (22/12/2022).
Arif initially explained that he was at the scene of Yosua’s murder on July 13, 2022 in the morning. Arif said he was there to follow up the TKP investigation.
“Having finished still there?” asked the prosecutor.
“Again. Then just Chuck and Baiquni, around 2pm,” Arif said.
“What else is there?” the prosecutor asked again.
“Chuck said ‘Brother, there is an order from the division head to watch.’ there on the terrace,” he said.
Arif admitted that he entered the terrace of AKBP Ridwan with two of his colleagues. He admitted asking Ridwan for permission to sit on the terrace of the house.
“I said ‘Do you want to borrow it, sit down.’ Then I said ‘Yes already which one to watch’. Then Baiquni opened the report flash drive locked on a laptop,” he said.
“Who’s watching?” the judge asked.
“Those over there, me, Baiquni, Chuck and Ridwan,” Arif said.
Arif admitted that at first he didn’t know what he was going to see. He admitted that he only knew that what he was looking at was CCTV footage at the Duren Tiga police compound after the video was played.
“What you see is a tape going to TKP,” he said.
Prosecutors then inquired about the content of the video that was viewed. It was here that Arif admitted he was shocked because he knew Joshua was still alive at the time Freddy Sambo arrived at the official residence. This is different from Sambo’s version of the story, which says former Propam Division head Polri arrived at the official residence when Yosua had already been killed in a shootout with Bharada Eliezer.
“At first I thought it was in accordance with Ms Putri and Pak Ferdy’s story and the release that was delivered by the Chief Constable on Monday. I thought it was appropriate, so I said ‘This is appropriate’. Why didn’t I fact “I don’t know Joshua. Then Chuck was like ‘This is Joshua still alive bro, this is the white shirt’. ‘No, the shirt is red’ I said. ‘Where do you know him brother?’ Chuck said ‘This is Bang’s blood, this is Joshua’,” he said, mimicking the conversation that happened at the time.
“And then what will happen look?” the prosecutor asked.
“I said to Chuck ‘Are you sure Chuck?’. (Answered) ‘Sure’. There I was shocked. That moment has come see That photo kept expiring, I walked out,” he said.
