‘Serbia does it the Dutch way’

AMSTERDAM – The biggest surprise of the last World Cup qualifying cycle was Portugal’s sentencing to the play-offs at the hands of Serbia. Led by captain Dusan Tadic, the Serbs won 2-1 against the star team with Cristiano Ronaldo and Bernardo Silva at Estadio da Luz in Lisbon. After a lightning-fast deficit due to a mistake by midfielder Nemanja Gudelj (ex-AZ and Ajax), Tadic took care of the 1-1 and the 32-year-old Ajax player gave the assist for Aleksander Mitrovic’s 1-2 with the winning goal.
