Ajax opens the doors of De Toekomst: ‘We want to train complete footballers’

Ajax has its own secondary school called on Wednesday The future, officially opened. The school gives youth players of the club the opportunity to perfectly match the education they follow with the training schedule. Managing Director Edwin van der Sar is very happy with this development.

“At Ajax we want to train complete football players and school plays a major role in this. The players must be able to train more,” says Van der Sar at the website from Ajax. The idea for a school on the training complex did not come out of the blue. Ajax has been working with the Calandlyceum, the ROC Amsterdam and the Calvijn College for years.

Van der Sar is very pleased that there is now an official school at the training complex of the Amsterdammers. “This way, all youth players, at all school levels, can receive education at our own training complex, which gives them more time for training. We are very happy that with this school we can take the next step in our ambitiousness”, says the general director.
