‘Ajax is closed chapter on which I no longer have to come back’

After a successful first season, in which the final of the Europa League was reached, it came to an end for Bosz and Ajax. Bosz got along well with his regular assistant Hendrie Krüzen, but not with the other assistants, including Hennie Spijkerman and Dennis Bergkamp. Goalkeeping coach Carlo l’Ami and fitness coach Björn Rekelhof were the other assistants.

“It is that you bring it up, because I see Ajax as a closed chapter to which I do not have to return. Pretty soon Hendrie and I were on one side and the other four staff members on the other side. This created an atmosphere which cost an awful lot of energy,” says Bosz in an interview with HEROES.

After the final, the season was evaluated between general manager Edwin van der Sar and Bosz. “While I also heard that I had not won a prize, I was quite clear: either they celebrate away or we leave (…) Incidentally, the relationship with Overmars has remained very good after my sudden departure from Ajax, our wives are still very good friends.”

Bosz was succeeded by Marcel Keizer, who was fired after a few months. “Marcel Keizer didn’t get the time, Erik (Ten Hag, ed.) Did. He, just like me, also had a hard time in the beginning. You can see that Ajax plays recognizable and very naturally fits in young players again. You can see that in that. really the hand of the trainer.”
