During the semi-finals of the play-offs (May 23) and the final (May 26), De Toppers will give a concert in the Johan Cruijff ArenA and it is therefore not possible to play there. The group of singers regularly gives concerts in the Amsterdam stadium around that time of the year, but this year Ajax suddenly has to take the play-offs into account. Due to the loss against Feyenoord, the Amsterdam team is now seven points behind in direct European places.
So there seem to be three options for completing Ajax’s matches in the play-offs. The Amsterdam team will have to arrange another location, play the matches at De Toekomst sports park or hand over the home advantage to the opponent. The first option seems unlikely due to the short preparation time. Playing at De Toekomst must be discussed with the municipality whether the public is allowed to attend. Because the municipality is often not very keen on proposals from Ajax, the club seems to be heading towards giving away home advantage.
