Ajax extends contract of mercenary Botman | who broke through at Heerenveen NOW

Ajax and Sven Botman reached an agreement on Wednesday about a contract extension for the central defender. Twenty-year-old Botman, who is rented to sc Heerenveen, is now in Amsterdam until mid-2023.

Botman’s old commitment ran until mid-2022. The youth international is a permanent value at Heerenveen this season. He missed this Eredivisie season for less than a minute for the Frisians, scored twice and delivered four assists.

Last Saturday Botman and Heerenveen played against his actual employer. In the Abe Lenstra Stadium, Ajax won 1-3 and the Amsterdammers thus ended a series of bad results.

Botman was admitted to the youth academy at Ajax in 2009, but has never played for the first team in an official game. However, he did play 28 games for Jong Ajax in the Kitchen Champion Division last season.

The left-footed Botman is expected to return to Ajax after his rental period with Heerenveen has ended after this season. He could then go for his chance in the ArenA.

Botman was reportedly still in the interest of Norwich City due to his strong game in Friesland during the past winter transfer period.
