Aiways starts advance sales for the U5 electric car

The Chinese startup Aiways has started advance sales of its battery SUV U5 in Germany. Initially, the equipment variants “Standard” for 37,990 euros and “Premium” for 40,990 euros (each with 16% VAT) in the three colors glacier white, electric blue and aubergine will be offered. The vehicles always have a battery capacity of 63 kWh and a 150 kW (204 PS) electric motor.

Aiways advertises its debut as an affordable electric car with range suitable for everyday use, agility and modern infotainment. The interior should offer spaciousness that corresponds to the vehicles of higher classes. The range of the five-seater is 410 kilometers according to the WLTP standard, the consumption is given as 17.4 kWh / 100 km. The battery can be charged with the standard charging cable via a socket or wallbox at home or at public charging stations. At fast charging stations, the U5 can draw energy with the CCS standard that is common in this country with up to 90 kW charging power. The battery pack should be able to be charged from 30 to 80 percent in just under half an hour.

Various driver assistance systems are to ensure safety in the U5, including adaptive cruise control, emergency brake assist, preventive collision protection assist, lane keeping assist and blind spot assist.

Aiways sells the U5 in direct sales, in Germany together with the electronics retail chain Euronics. “Due to the high demand, we decided together with Euronics to start a pre-sale tour in selected branches now,” says Alexander Klose, responsible for Aiways’ international business. The pre-sale tour starts on August 14th and stops at 30 Euronics locations in Germany. Euronics promises: “Together with Aiways, we offer what new customers need when buying an e-car: Simply more advice and services from a single source. Interested parties can come to us with any questions. “

The first deliveries of the Aiways U5 to customers should take place in October. The manufacturer participates in the German government funded jointly by the federal government and the industry “Environmental bonus”-Advancement. Since the U5 costs less than 40,000 euros net, the maximum grant of 9,480 euros (with 16% VAT) can be applied for. Customers can buy or finance the electric SUV from China.
