MUNICH On the initiative of State Minister Hubert Aiwanger am 14. November a transformation summit took place in the Bavarian Ministry of Economics. The support and funding offers as well as best practice examples for municipalities and districts are presented in order to successfully accompany the change in the economy and the respective regions. “Germany’s economy is stagnating, companies are no longer investing, production is being relocated to cheap locations. The federal government is standing by and doing nothing instead of specifically improving the competitiveness of the German economy through lower taxes and costs. More and more industries are in a state of upheaval and need staff on site This is changing the districts and municipalities as business locations, trade tax revenues and jobs close to home are disappearing. We have to overcome this challenge and therefore go on the offensive We have developed a well-tested and diverse toolbox to support municipalities in these transformation processes. There are suitable offers for every region and every industry.
According to Aiwanger, these include regional funding, financial aid from the LfA, research funding and knowledge transfer offers. “It’s often about maintaining traditional companies, starting up new companies or setting up new companies. Depending on the specific challenge, our subsidiary organizations such as BayStartUp and Invest in Bavaria can help in such cases,” assures Aiwanger. A successful transformation is also not a question of company size: “Our clusters and Bayern Innovativ also help smaller companies to develop prospects for a successful future. As the Ministry of Economic Affairs, we are available to provide advice and support. We also expect the same from the federal government. Corporate taxes must be reduced and bureaucratic requirements dismantled. We need an investment-friendly climate in Germany. Without federal reforms, none of this will work.
The district administrators and mayors, economic developers and representatives of the chambers are invited to the transformation summit.
