AITEX Develops Haptic Glove for Gamers Using AI and Data Science

Through gamification, it has been proven that by incorporating game elements into everyday and monotonous tasks, it is possible to improve the performance, motivation and satisfaction of those who participate in these activities.

Smart textiles

On the other hand, the smart textiles They represent the fusion or incorporation of electronic components, such as sensors and control devices, into textile products. For example, t-shirts capable of monitoring heart rate, sports clothing that records body movements or garments with built-in heating systems.

Thus, smart textiles aimed at gamification refer to sensorized clothing that, when connected to a game, allows the collection and transmission of user information through techniques characteristic of games, with the purpose of enhancing user performance and satisfaction. during the execution of an activity.

In this sense, AITEX developed the GAMIFY III project, which focused on improving the data training model developed in previous projects. For this, artificial intelligence and data science were used to achieve automatic learning by the motion detection algorithms.

Also, new garments were developed that incorporate haptic devices. These garments allow a unique immersive experience, experiencing contact with the skin of objects in a virtual environment.

In addition, an application was developed as a technological demonstrator that includes a Virtual Reality video game intended to show the technology and the application of haptic fabrics in a virtual environment.

A haptic glove to save the world

The video game developed in the GAMIFY III project takes place in a post-apocalyptic setting where machines threaten the Earth. The game makes use of a haptic glove that, in the virtual world, becomes a laser cannon. The game’s mechanics involve destroying drones to save the planet through the use of the laser cannon. Thanks to the haptic glove, the user can experience sensations such as recoil when firing the cannon and vibration when activating the laser.

Smart Textiles for gamification

The GAMIFY III project developed by AITEX has the support of the Conselleria d’Economia Sostenible, Sectors Productius, Comerç i Treball of the Generalitat Valenciana, through the IVACE (IMAMACA/2022/6). This project is framed within the research line: Smart Textiles for gamification, which AITEX has been working on since 2020. In this way we develop solutions for sports or gaming, applying all the know-how acquired at AITEX in other areas, such as the health sector.

AITEX: advanced technologies

For the development of the GAMIFY III project, at AITEX, advanced technologies such as intelligent embroidery or electronic printing on textile substrates were used to integrate electronics into the textile, using conductive threads, conductive fabrics and inks.

AITEX has extensive experience in the development of smart textiles for various areas: health, sports, well-being, etc. and for more than 15 years it has been working hand in hand with companies to help them in the development of their products.

Currently, AITEX is working on a new project (GAMIFY 2023) that will use the developments of the GAMIFY III project, making them more wearable and comfortable for the user. In addition, a series of advances are being implemented that will allow new functionalities and devices to be included in the game that improve the user experience.
