Spain has the best player in the world. Aitana Bonmatífor the second year in a row, was proclaimed winner of the 2024 Ballon d’Or, the second of her career. The midfielder proved once again this year that she is the best. With her at the helm, FC Barcelona won La Liga, the Super Cup and the Cup, as well as the Champions League, where she was also voted the best player of the tournament.
Additionally, she won the Nations League with the Spanish national team, earning her a ticket to the Olympics, which she failed to win. She did, however, become the first Spanish player to score at the Olympic Games.
Spain dominates the Ballon d’Or
This is the fourth consecutive time that a Spanish player wins the most important individual award in the world of football. Since Alexia Putellas first won it in 2021, only she and Aitana have won the trophy.
The domination of FC Barcelona (championships, cups, champions league…) and the Spanish national team (world cup and nations league) in recent years has allowed the ‘azulgranas’ players to dominate with one hand win a trophy which, not so long ago, was a dream for the players of “La Roja”. This new trophy proves once again that FC Barcelona and Spanish football have the best players in the world.
