Airspace not open to commercial flights, only repatriation flights

Surinamese airspace will not be opened for commercial flights from the Netherlands. The government decided that this morning. Last Sunday, the government announced that commercial flights from the Netherlands to Suriname were again possible. However, that decision has been reversed, President Santokhi said this morning.

Most of the reported infections were found in Amsterdam, namely 344. Many positive tests were also counted in Rotterdam and The Hague, 276 and 222 respectively.

“The Netherlands does not yet have it under control, so we will be adjusting policy again from today. On Saturday we decided that we would allow commercial flights, but we have just received a report that it is increasing enormously in the Netherlands. That’s why we just made a decision as a government to get rid of those commercial flights, ”said the president this morning at the opening of the school year.

For the time being, therefore, only COVID flights or repatriation flights will be allowed to Suriname, the president said:
